School Performance Data

The Department for Education (DfE) has published School and College Performance data to enable all stakeholders to understand and analyse our school performance. You can find our 2023 GCSE data here. The A Level and equivalents is published here.

Performance Data 2023

School and college performance data for the 2022/2023 academic year should be used with caution:

  • In 2022/23, qualifications returned to pre-pandemic standards. Performance measures that are based on qualification results will reflect this, and cannot be directly compared to measures from 2021/2022.

  • There are ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected individual schools, colleges and students differently.

Key stage 4

  • 38% of students attained a grade 5 (a ‘strong’ pass, equivalent to a high grade C or low grade B) or better in GCSE English and Mathematics.

  • Our Progress 8 (P8) score is -0.1, Attainment 8 (A8) is 47.3 and the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) average point score (APS) is 3.93.

  • 21% of pupils entered the English Baccalaureate (EBacc). EBacc is not compulsory at Overton Grange - students can opt to take either a Humanities or Language subject if they wish and are not required to take both. This is to retain student choice at Key Stage 4.

  • 95% of our 2021 Year 11 cohort stayed in education, training or employment.

Key stage 5 (16 to 18) information

  • The average point score for A level results was 30.64. The average grade was C.

  • The average point score for Applied General (BTec) results was 33.54. The average grade was Distinction

  • The retention rate for our Year 11 students progressing into our Sixth Form was 39%.

  • 88% of our 2021 Year 13 cohort progressed to education or employment.

  • 80% of our Year 13 students in September 2023 went on to university, with 20% attending Russell Group universities. 4% of our students deferred their place and are taking a gap year, and 16% of our students went into the workplace.
